GIFSA began in 1991 as a self-help group set up to assist up to six families in need of respite. More than three decades on, we've grown to provide a range of services for people with disabilities all over the Goldfields-Esperance region, yet we're still community-driven: a not-for-profit run by local people, governed by a local board, and woven into the place we all call home.
This connection, our people and our zero-tolerance stance for breaching of the NDIS Code of Conduct is why 60% of the people we support have chosen to stay with us for more than ten years.
Come and explore our Activity Hub, our own, dedicated community centre, housing a basketball court and day programs as well as skill-building, social and recreational activities designed around what matters to the people who come through the door. It's the only space of its kind in the Goldfields, and everyone's welcome.

Behind every support plan is a person with goals, interests and a story worth telling, in their own words. Meet some of the people who make GIFSA the community it is.
Greg loves trucks and Lego. After more than five years with GIFSA, he's developed greater independence, become more engaged in his daily life and discovered a new love of cooking, building confidence and new skills along the way.
My favourite thing about GIFSA is my support workers. They help me be more independent, get involved in more things and learn new skills. I've even learned to cook, and I love it!
Brianna enjoys all things girly and loves spending time with her family. After more than 10 years with GIFSA, she has found stability, built lasting friendships and developed a strong sense of trust in the people around her.
I feel safe and supported with GIFSA because I know there is always someone there for me.
With a love of food and gaming, Brian enjoys having plenty of options to choose from at the Activity Hub. After more than five years with GIFSA, he's tried new activities, become more active and discovered a love of physical activities like basketball, all while having the freedom to choose how he spends his day.
I love having so many different things to choose from at the Hub. I've tried new activities, found things I really enjoy like playing basketball, and I get to choose what I feel like doing each day.
We're proud to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and families across our region, in a way that respects culture, identity and connection to community. We work with the whole family and community network, because we know that for many, care and support are shared.
GIFSA acknowledges that we operate on Wangkatja Country (Kalgoorlie) and Kepa Kurl Wudjari / Ngadju Country (Esperance). We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging, and value their enduring connection to this land and community.
Have a question, or not sure where to start? That's completely okay, pop in and see us, give us a call, or send a message and our team will help guide you from there.
If you need support and aren't sure where to start, leave your details and we'll be in touch to talk through how we can help. You don't need to have all the answers, we'll walk you through it.
